HER DAKOTA MAN, book 1
Single dad, Logan McKinnon, had seen more than his share of bad
times after the death of his wife a year ago. The last thing he needs is
Poppy Ericksen, an old flame and his late wife’s best friend, showing
up unannounced to help after devastating floods nearly washed away their
hometown.

Poppy Ericksen had spent the year wondering how all their lives
might have been different after hearing the deathbed confession of her
childhood friend. She’d left South Dakota years ago because she couldn’t
bear to watch the man she loved loving another woman. But now she knows
the truth. She’ll keep the promise she made to a friend, but will Logan
understand when he learns the truth?

BADLAND BRIDE book 2
Raised an Army brat, Regis Simpson was used to calling new towns
home, learning to quickly make friends but never letting anyone get too
close. When devastating floods tear through the Badlands of South
Dakota, she thinks Rudolph is just another town that needs to be
rebuilt. She never counted on the sexy town doctor, Keith “Hawk”
McKinnon or his determination to break down walls she’d spent a lifetime
building, making it impossible for her to leave.

DAKOTA HEAT book 3
Hotshot Sam McKinnon was always leaving town, chasing another fire
until his own hometown became vulnerable during the fire season after a
big flood left debris and devastation in its path. He didn't expect out
of town dispatcher, Summer Bigelow, to catch his eye or his heart.

It wasn't Summer's idea to move from Providence to South Dakota. But
when a serial murderer suddenly turns his attention on Summer, her boss
insists she leave town. She's dealt with high tension, life or death
situations many times in her job. It isn’t until she meets Sam McKinnon
and falls for the sexy hotshot that she really begins to know fear. The
fear of losing someone she loves.

WILD DAKOTA HEART book 4
Former NAVY SEAL, Ethan McKinnon, has spent ten years trying to wash
away the bad boy reputation that resulted in the death of his best
friend Denny Newton. Unfortunately, that meant leaving behind everyone,
especially Maddie Newton, Denny’s sweet younger sister. Ethan had faced
sniper bullets and lived through black ops missions that he never
should have come home from. But facing Maddie again is the most
terrifying thing he’s ever had to do.

There was a time when Maddie Newton’s sun rose and set with Ethan
McKinnon. Now that Ethan is back in Rudolph, he insists they work
together to fulfill Denny’s dream of restoring the motorcycle and
bringing it to Sturgis. But how can Maddie work alongside Ethan when
he’s the last man on earth she wants to be near…and the only man she’s
ever truly loved?

HIS DAKOTA BRIDE book 5

just beginning. Newly pregnant, she waited for the love of her life,
Wade McKinnon, to join her so they could start their life together. But
her joy quickly shattered when she'd learned Wade was dead. For the sake
of their son, Skylar married...and divorced, a man she didn't love so
her baby would have a father. But marrying the wrong man when her heart
belonged to Wade was the biggest mistake of her life. Now Wade is back
and determined to get her back. But with so much that happened while he
was gone, how can they recapture the love Skylar buried while in the
arms of another man when she thought he'd died?
When I created Devil Barnett back in the mid 80’s the idea
of a bad-assed African American ex-CIA hitman turned private detective appealed
to me. Now I could use my hard boiled, world-weary cynical detective to right
some wrongs as well as express my views about what I saw as ingrained social
injustices and inequalities. I could now slate big business criminality and
indifference along with the widespread political corruption and complicity that
I believed had become a part of the hidden malignant underbelly of the American
culture machine. The same machine that I felt was driving its citizenry towards
a strange kind of collective psychosis.

Now some thirty years later when I read that there were 372
Good Stories .... several really good and several that are different and
leave the reader hanging and thinking .. but overall, a good book.

Revised for Kindle, Nobody Bats a Thousand is a book of stories based on
reality. The opening story, “A Bar Story”, showing a typical Friday
night seen through the eyes of a middle-aged bartender, deals with
conflicts that arise from changing times and generations. In “Home on
the Range” a college student becomes reacquainted with his uncle, a
famous touring musician, who teaches his nephew to look at life from a
novel perspective. “Victims of Circumstance” centers on a young slacker
and the 24 hours surrounding his 21st birthday in which he stumbles upon
epiphanies about life, sex and his Vietnam veteran father. This book of
literary fiction contains eight finely crafted stories about ordinary
people involved in unique situations, presented in a style reminiscent
of Raymond Carver, Richard Ford and David Sedaris.
Twenty-something Lenny Decker is a man of few plans, and he seems to
like it that way. Bumming around a sleepy California beach town, Lenny
appears to live a life of Zen-like slacker simplicity. His days and
nights are a seemingly endless loop of visits to the local bar and
pick-up basketball games, punctuated by long stretches in his apartment
with only a twelve pack, a bong, and a TV of questionable quality for
company.

But Lenny has a thing or two to deal with: a near brush
with success in his past has left him running for the comfort of a life
where the stakes aren't just low, they're non-existent. Then there's the
woman who sees past Lenny's stoned exterior and is challenging him in
ways he hasn't been tested in years.

This book is anything but cold,
very hot indeed! Another great book by Tess Oliver and Anna Hart. This
book starts out with some dark material that unfortunately too many
women find themselves facing. After escaping an abusive relationship
Jade runs into a very alpha male, greek god, pretty boy, that is
definitely a badass, and he has an almost overwhelming protector mode
built into him, meet Colt Stone and his two intimidating brothers. Jade
soon finds herself wrapped up emotionally and literally in Colt, not
matter what her head tells her rationally her heart has different ideas.
This book is full of action, sarcastic banter between the characters,
and of course lots of hotness and sexual chemistry. Who knew that a cold
stone could be so hot and bad!

New York Times Bestselling Author
Tess Oliver and Anna Hart have teamed up to bring you the sexiest,
baddest bad boy around in the first Stone Brothers novel--Stone Cold
Bad

Jade
He was definitely trouble, and
the worst kind of trouble because he was wrapped up in an incredible
package of muscles, ink and heartbreak. A guy like him was the last
thing I needed now. A guy like Colt Stone was the last thing I ever needed.

Colt
Emotion,
feelings and, hell, even love had been turned off in all of us Stone
brothers long ago. Then Jade landed in my life. It was the last thing I
ever wanted, to feel this way about someone. Attachments like this were
only followed by heartbreak, and I wasn't into heartbreak. I wasn't into f*cking attachments.

Bad
boy Colt Stone has a notorious reputation for being a tough and
dangerous heartbreaker. A brutal childhood hardened him to the idea of
any type of emotional attachment to anyone. When he becomes the
unwitting accomplice in Jade Morrow's escape from an abusive boyfriend,
he soon finds that he'll do anything to keep her safe. Has Colt found the one girl who can break through to his impenetrable heart?

When
she runs away from her monstrous boyfriend, Jade Morrow has no place to
go and no one to turn to. She accidentally lands in the arms of a
handsome, tattooed stranger. Colt Stone is as formidable as he is
appealing and Jade soon finds that he's equally hard to resist. When her troubled past catches up to her, Jade discovers just how far Colt will go to save her.

Contains mature content. be that only preppers and people with a high level of government clearance had
the foresight to create a plan for the end of the world. But these days any
halfway intelligent person needs to have some kind of plan, and as I’ve always
aspired to be at least a half way intelligent person, I decided to hash one
out.

Look at the
evidence. Global viral infections are a yearly event, tsunamis and earth quakes
are now common occurrences. If you’re still waiting for a sign that the end is
nigh, you might as well stand out in traffic in a tin foil hat telling people
we’re going to be okay, because nobody will take you seriously.

And to me it
seems only a matter of time before one of these freaky global viruses mutates
sufficiently to actually reanimate dead flesh and put its host in a permanent
state of annoyance. Ergo; we need to develop a strategy for the impeding zombie
apocalypse.

Now, you may ask why I would go
through the trouble of creating my own strategy when there are so many existing
strategies to be found on the net. A quick search will tell you the best
weapons, the best foods, the best way to prep. However, I feel that none of
these plans take into account the real hardships people will have to face. So I
spent some time looking at all the possible angles and came up with what I
believe is the most sane and most efficient Zombie apocalypse plan to date. And
I believe it’s as simple as it is effective;

Basically, I intend to die in the very
first wave.

That’s it. That makes the most sense to me. More sense at least than undergoing all manner of hardship only to die eventually anyway
(through bites/malnutrition/or terminally chapped lips).

For any
plan the long term survival rate is zero. Of course, it could be argued that
the zombie apocalypse is the least worrying apocalypse of all. On the
apocalypse scale, it’s like a flee bite. There is no real damage to the
ecosystem, our infrastructure will remain intact, the power grid won’t melt
down. Basically, all we need to do is wait it out. Say, a couple of weeks. Just
long enough for the re-animated dead to decompose to the point where they
simply fall apart and movement is no longer an option.

Sure, it’ll
be annoying. Insurance rates will go through the roof. You’ll lose some slow and
fat loved ones. The smell won’t be that great. It will take ages for your
favorite TV shows to start up again. Marauders will raid your food
stocks and trample mud into your carpet. There’ll be some broken windows too, believe
me. But, ultimately, we’ll be okay.

Still,
before we get out the other end, supply lines will be disrupted and
stores will run out of toothpaste, deodorant, and chap-stick.

Has life ever thrown you a curve ball called challenges or maybe even a boulder called adversity?

It’s not surprising that from all of our roles and responsibilities as a parent, career-climber, spouse, business owner, PTA volunteer, church volunteer, you name it, we often compromise our health & wellbeing, relationships, careers, dreams, goals, and even our spiritual beliefs. Which all leads to being overwhelmed, stressed, depression, unhealthy relationships, dependency of unnecessary medications and the list goes on.

You Are Not Alone , How To Rise Above Life's Challenges With Grace, Gratitude, Love & Joy is about finding the gold in life's challenges.
Ford shares how her tragedies from her past taught her the alchemy of adversity. Your challenges may be similar to hers; becoming a widow at 32, a single parent, faced with mental, emotional, physical and even sexual abuse at a young age. Or maybe your challenges aren’t so extreme but you’ll be able to find your blueprint on how to rise from any challenges you’ll have in your path.

A path finding who we are inside and the way we handle the challenges we face is how we transition and transform into who we are truly meant to be. We are not only guided by our inner-self but the resources of guidance all around us, none of us are ever alone.
The Last Three is one of those books you don't forget quickly.
Almon Chu perfectly describes the city from the beggars on the train to the "wannabe gangsters" trying to start a fight if you even glance their way. From the first page when we meet Jon he had me hooked, curious to know what Jon's story was. I found it really refreshing to be reading a book in a males POV; we don't usually get to see things in their perspective and once again Almon does a great job making his characters seem so real, almost as if you know Jon yourself.
Though this story is considered a novella it really feels like so much more. Summary:

Clara's relationship with Christian is intense from
the start, and like nothing she’s ever experienced before. But what starts as
devotion quickly becomes obsession, and it's almost too late before Clara
realizes how far gone Christian is—and what he's willing to do to make her stay.

Now Clara has left the city—and Christian—behind. No one
back home has any idea where she is, but she still struggles to shake off her
fear. She knows Christian won't let her go that easily, and that no matter how
far she runs, it may not be far enough....

My Review:

I knew you
wouldn't disappoint me Caletti, I just knew it. This book...gosh I don't even
have the words to express how amazing this book was. Have you ever read a book
that just made so much sense and connected to you in such a way that it left
you thinking about it for days later? Because that's how I felt reading this
book.

“It wasn’t fair for a person to shove himself at you again
and again when you wanted them gone. We should have the right to have someone
leave when we want, to only allow those in who we want in. But the truth is, people
can force their way into your life whenever they choose. If they want to remind
you forevermore that they exist, they will. They can reappear in a card or a
call or a “chance” meeting, they can remember your birthday or the day you met
with some innocuous small note. No matter how little they matter in your new
life, they can insist on being seen and recognized and remembered.”

Clara the main character speaks to you in a way that no
other character can. She tells her story, and she really connect with the
reader. The thing that I loved most
about this book is how real everything was. When we read story about a couple
falling love it's always the same thing: girl likes boy, boy likes girl, they
fall in love, the end. But in this story we find out what happens when you fall
in love, and things don't turn out the way you hoped. Clara loved Christian and
a part of her always will but the big difference between her and all the other
girls in novels is that she knows when things have gone to far. She realizes
their relationship is not healthy and even though a big part of her wants to be

“You read all kinds of books and see all kinds of movies
about the man who is obsessed and devoted, whose focus is a single solid beam, same
as the lighthouse and that intense, too. It is Heathcliff with Catherine. It is
a vampire with a passionate love stronger than death. We crave that kind of
focus from someone else. We'd give anything to be that "loved." But
that focus is not some soul-deep pinnacle of perfect devotion - it's only
darkness and the tormented ghosts of darkness. It's strange, isn't it, to see a
person's gaping emotional wounds, their gnawing needs, as our romance? We long
for it, I don't know why, but when we have it, it is a knife at our throat on
the banks of Greenlake. It is an unwanted power you'd do anything to be rid of.
A power that becomes the ultimate powerlessness.”

Obsession is not something that should be taken lightly, and
I like how in this novel it truly opened my eyes to how serious it could get. I
don't know about you guys but I've read a lot of books where the guy falls in
love with the girl and it's almost like he's obsessed with her because "he
can't get enough"; I used to think it was so romantic how he would get incredibly
jealous and want her all to himself, but now I'm seriously questioning the
authors message. In Stay, Clara makes it clear from the beginning how scary and
not romantic it is when you can't even look at anyone without you're boyfriend
accusing you of cheating and verbally abusing you.

Deb Caletti really outdid herself in this book and it's
honestly got to be my favorite one from her so far! It's really a shame
that she doesn't get the attention she
deserves, but I know for a fact that she will keep writing amazing stories that
ultimately change peoples lives. Because this book definitely changed my life, and
I don't think I'll ever be the same. You have to give this book a chance, trust
me you will not be sorry. And not to keep ranting on but I have yet to read one
bad review about this book, and that's probably because this book is so close
to perfection it's almost impossible to not like it.

In straightforward English, Thinking Skills Club founder Mitch Moldofsky offers insights into how computer games affect the children who play them. Topics include violence, addiction, gamification, the use of games in school and the brain game industry.
This is the central question of Braiming: How Computer Games Affect Kids Brains, a new e-book by Thinking Skills Club founder Mitch Moldofsky. The book is aimed at parents and teachers who wonder what the near and long term consequences are of their children’s gaming habits. Many feel like helpless witnesses to an alarming trend, as smartphones and TV console controllers become appendages of their young charges.

Moldofsky is the father of two boys who are active in sports but also play games over the internet. While studying Cognitive Science at university, he started to see computer games popping up in therapeutic settings, such as a treatment for ADHD. He also saw studies that made a seemingly odd link between apparently mindless—and often violent—online games and cognitive gains in areas such as visual attention and working memory.

This set him on a course to discover what actually happens in the brain when a child plays a game, and how that relates to external consequences.
For instance, just what are the effects of seemingly violent games in terms of behavior? Citing many sources and opinions, Moldofsky shows that there are both positive and negative effects, and the negative ones depend mainly on experience: those users who are more passive to start with are most influenced by aggressive thoughts and attitudes, while the main group using the games—boys—are the least affected.

Moldofsky goes on to address the controversial issues of video game addiction, the “gamification” of education, and using video games to enhance the curriculum in schools. Finally, he discusses brain games, such as are offered by his own company, the Thinking Skills Club, finding the industry to be in its baby stage even as it enters the mainstream.

An e-book, Braiming: How Computer Games Affect Kids Brains will be available exclusively on Amazon KDP Select sometime this summer. Those interested in getting a free copy can sign up on the Thinking Skills Club website to be advised of the five promotional giveaway days Amazon offers during this period.

Hello loyal followers and readers! I want to share with you a recent interview I made with bestselling author Rich Marcello about his new book, "The Big Wide Calm: A Novel"

What is the books genre/category?

It’s literary, millennial coming-of-age fiction. Millennial in the sense, that the heroine of The Big Wide Calm, Paige Plant, is a little older (25) than most coming-of-age heroines. Literary in the sense that it deals with a number of philosophical and existential topics.

What events/inspirations led up to you publishing "The Big Wide Calm?"?

I’m in the process of writing three novels about these different kinds of love. The Big Wide Calm was just published in July of 2014 by Langdon Street Press. The first, The Color of Home, was published in 2013, and the third, The Beauty of the Fall, will be published in 2015.

Is there a common theme or life-lesson in your books?

Yes. Thematically, even though there are different characters in each novel, they are tied together by struggling to truly and deeply learn to love, even when their histories or current obstacles conspire against them.

I see that you have published two books. What was the biggest challenge you encountered between writing your first book and second book?

For The Big Wide Calm, I wrote very fast. Basically, I caught a creative wave and finished the first draft of the book in three months. Then I edited it for another year. The biggest challenge was literally dropping everything else in my life so I could make room to ride the wave and channel all of my creative energy into the book. Because I’ve been writing songs, poems, and novels for a long time, I know it’s rare to catch a wave like that, so I made a decision to honor it and drop everything else I was doing. In a way, it was an easy choice, albeit not a practical one.

Looking back at both of your publications, What do you think you did that makes your books stand out above the rest?

I try to infuse my books with a great deal of emotional intimacy. In addition, because I’m also a songwriter and poet, I try to incorporate poetic and song elements into my writing. Sometimes I’ll spend a couple of hours on a paragraph until I get the words right. The combination of emotional intimacy and poetic writing is what helps the books stand out.

On that note, would you have changed anything that you have done?

No, I’m really proud of both books. Like most writers I know, I could tinker with a book forever. With that said, with both The Big Wide Calm and The Color of Home, I reached a point where I felt the book was done and I let it go. There’s something about letting a piece of art go that is relational. By that I mean the best novels, in my opinion, have the ability to invoke an emotional reaction in a reader that is unique, that is relational. In that sense, even when someone doesn’t like one of my books, as long as they have some emotional reaction to it, I feel it’s serving its purpose.

Besides personal life, where do you draw most of your inspiration from?

From dreams. I’m a big believer in writing in the morning, and in a way, going from one kind of dreaming (sleep) directly to another (writing fiction). My best writing comes from that dream-like place where I totally inhabit a character and write from their point-of-view.

What can your readers expect from you in the coming years? The Beauty of the Fall will be out in 2015. After that, I plan to write for the rest of my life. I figure I have a good ten novels in me.

What advice would you give to writers just starting out? Write the first pass of any scene quickly, and then rewrite it until it’s sensual enough that the reader feels like he or she is actually there.
A piece of historical Irish fiction set in 1930’s Ireland, Fionn Connolly is an eight year old boy with the imagination to move mountains. He lives in the Liberties, in South West Dublin, Ireland with his mother and his older sister, his father having absconded to America some time ago. Naming him after Fionn Mac Cumhaill hero of Irish legend, Fionn’s grandfather has big plans for him, hoping that he will have the courage to make the trip to America that he wishes he’d made himself. His Grandfather dreams of Fionn one day becoming President of the United States of America, which leads to the young boy gaining the nickname President Fionn. Fionn’s childhood innocence is shattered by a horrifyingly violent incident at school, which transforms not only the life of Fionn, but everyone around him, leaving them scattered in all directions.

Fionn returns to Dublin in 1963, a different man. Damaged from his childhood experience, he leads a solitary, ordered life, his only act of daring the purchase of a motorcycle. Bruised by his attempt to romance the enigmatic Teagan and held back by his shyness, Fionn is reluctant to begin a romance with the striking young Bridget.
Klaus Berger’s ‘The Truth which was Kept from Us’ is—to say the least—so intriguing you’ll drop everything you’re doing and read through it. You’ll be simply astounded upon learning about the extent of what you DON’T know—and that’s only for starters.

Indeed, ‘The Truth which was Kept from Us’ contains information that can be so shocking to many people—myself included. I mean, imagine if the majority of Jesus Christ’s teachings—which didn’t reach the great masses of people through generations—were actually made public right at the get-go, we could have spared ourselves a lot of bloodshed throughout history. On a personal note, I find the divine wisdom that author Klaus Berger so comprehensively discusses in this book so evocatively life-changing—finally, here’s something that will wash over your soul like warm rain. And when I say “comprehensively,” I’m not kidding—Berger leaves no stone unturned when he reveals not only Jesus’ hidden teachings, but also what we can do about these teachings in order to transform our very lives.

Let me suffice it to say that this is an incredibly powerful book—something you don’t read lightly, yet it’s something that you or everyone MUST read. Get a copy of this book today, especially if you’re like me who have been wondering about what we could all have been missing from the big picture. Highly recommended—also makes a great gift to like-minded friends. Five stars for this one.
Excerpt:

That night he took me to dinner. We supped on chicken and mushroom crepes outside a small café, enjoying the music of the street bands. As we ate, he spoke of his family.
We traveled to the top of the Eiffel tower to view the city from the world’s tallest structure. I shivered at the cold wind and Dimitri wrapped his arm around me. After a moment of hesitation, I relaxed and rested my head on his shoulder. For the first time in years I felt at peace.
“So, tell me something about you,” he said.
“I hunt demons.”
“Besides that. Hmm, how about where you are from? Is Paris your home city?”
“No, I’m from Italy.”
“Really?” he asked, surprise showing on his face. “I couldn’t tell; you have no accent.”
“I lost it in my travels.”
“Where have you traveled?” he asked, rubbing my arm.
“Europe, Asia, Africa, all over,” I said.
“So you’re a world traveler.”
“That’s where the demons are.”
“Back to the demons. Your life seems to revolve around them.”
A couple passed us. Both were smiling down at their son, who stood between them, holding their hands. A lump rose in my throat as memories threatened to overwhelm me. I stared at the city below.
“That’s what being a hunter is,” I said. “You should know.”
“Yes, but I have friends and family in my life. You don’t seem to have that.”
“Those are a liability.”
He lifted up my chin, so his gaze met mine. “Not if you find the right one.”
All under the guise of a beautiful love story, readers learn valuable life lessons as they take this magical journey with the characters. Easy to read and love, "Clever Little Book," will quickly become a favorite!

The characters are endearing and the adventure never ends as their mundane lives are suddenly immersed in a perfect blend of Fantasy and Spirit. As the main Character Isabel, stands down at the dock daily believing her love will one day come in on a ship, she learns through adventure, drama and fantasy that love is NOT primarily romanticism as she had once believed. Although a simple and childlike story on one level, Clever Little Book has a disarming depth to it that will entrance readers of all ages. It's tone is universal and can and should be embraced by people of all races, creeds and religions.

At it's core it's a story that urges it's readers to live in the moment, and to not forfeit the beauty and wonder of life's journey with over concern for the final destination. Also, that it's NEVER too late to find your true love!

Davis is an inveterate storyteller. This is obvious from her tall tales that link one story/chapter to the next in Clever Little Book and which seem to spout almost effortlessly from her pen. Before long, the reader finds that crossover details from one story (for the chapters feel that way at first, as if they are individual stories that flow one into another as if by chance, not design) have interwoven themselves into a plot, that of an old woman who has waited a lifetime for her love. This old woman, like almost all the other characters, is easy to like and feel for.

What struck me most was the inventiveness of Davis' novel. She tells her stories like a campfire storyteller, one who never runs out of ideas. Her plots meld past and present, passing from one continent to another effortlessly. They are enchanting. LaCava’s talent for electrifying action, tightly woven mystery and sharply written characters have readers clamoring for answers… and a sequel.

For Immediate Release

Dallas, TX – On November 22nd, 1963, the President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, was gunned down as he traveled in a motorcade through a crisp autumn afternoon in Dallas, Texas.

In a split second, a nation was forever divided in two – before Kennedy was shot, and after. Some have called it the September 11th of its time.

To author of new novel, ‘No One Can Know’, Adrienne LaCava, the moment is forever seared into her consciousness and imagination.

“I’ve been called a ‘Camelot Junkie’,” says LaCava. “You could say I’m smitten with the Sixties, and nothing grabs my attention like the assassination of President Kennedy. It was a public slaughter, for all intents and purposes, and conspiracy theories still don’t get fairly examined. But I think it will eternally be known as one of the more fascinating events in history.”

‘No One Can Know’ is LaCava’s exploration of the time and its beating heart is the shattering loss of innocence that the United States experienced the day the President died. Throw in the theatrics of a dysfunctional family who are wrestling with their own issues, and you have a multifaceted story that has already earned dozens of five star ratings on Amazon.

Synopsis:

Weary of Cold War politics, CIA operative Gabriel Haines can't wait to leave the Company life for a job on his friend's isolated Texas ranch. All he needs to do is go to Dallas and seal the deal. But when President John F. Kennedy is assassinated just yards from where Haines stands, the former agent finds himself in tighter crosshairs than ever before. Keeping a low profile on the ranch couldn't come at a better time.

Motherless preteen Ivy Jean Pritchard is a worrier, but she's trying hard not to be suspicious when her father sends her to spend the weekend on a ranch with family she's never met. And with her troublemaker teenaged cousin, high-society aunt, and her uncle's mistress on the scene, it promises to be more than the western adventure Ivy had anticipated.

Now, marksmen have tracked Haines to the ranch, getting the entire family involved in something very adult and very worrisome. When the weekend turns deadly, Haines and Ivy Jean are the first to learn that secrets, especially those devised and perpetuated "for the good of us all," can breakdown a family--or a nation--in the blink of an eye.

For the author, writing this novel was more than just a labor of love – it was the culmination of years of encouragement from teachers, family members and other writers.

“I was told early on by an educator that I had a ‘voice’,” says LaCava. “It was only later in life that I fully appreciated what a compliment that was. It’s true that when I’m out and about, I can’t help but look at people and wonder – what are their problems, what are they thinking, what are they feeling? A writer’s curse, of course.”

It was only a chance event in the economy that allowed LaCava to pursue her dream.

“I am a former banker,” says the author. “In early ‘08, banking went bust and personally, I saw divine lining in the lost-job cloud. Graced with my husband’s generous support it was time to climb on that new career path I felt destined to follow. Time to employ that voice.”

Since its publication, the book has earned dozens of glowing reviews.

Calling the book a ‘tour de force’, Nik Winchester wrote: “Fantastic read. If you love this time period then you'll love this book, which centers around the assassination of JFK. Skillfully woven with deft craft & good characterization, Adrienne La Cava's book will stay with you long after you read it. I look forward to the next!”

“Gripping suspense wrapped in a coming-of-age story about a young girl finding her way after the assassination of JFK. Author has captured the times and the reader really feels like they have been plunked down in 1960s Texas. This one is a very entertaining yarn by an amazing first novelist. Can't wait to hear more about this young woman and her family,” wrote Pamela H. Lappin

Jeanie Brosius King wrote: “Those of us from Dallas, Texas will recognize the syntax, phrases and social mores common to our State. LaCava captures the feelings of confusion, fear, secrecy and turmoil of that fateful day, November 22, 1963, as well as the fallout surrounding it. A nation in disarray is reflected in her brilliantly wrought characters and their own personal discoveries. I find myself wondering about these people and their lives, after finishing this fine first novel. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!”

With readers crying out for a sequel, LaCava is hard at work on her second novel, set in equally tumultuous 1968, featuring some of the same characters from ‘No One Can Know’ and, LaCava promises, “lots of intrigue.”

‘No One Can Know’ is available now from Amazon: http://amzn.to/1d0Mr6o.

About the Author:

ADRIENNE LACAVA grew up in central Texas during the sixties and has aspired to novel writing since her first encounter with Nancy Drew. Journalism was a business minor at UNT and she went training pieces in healthcare and banking careers, though the yen for creating stories never faded. Ten years ago she began to study fiction at night through SMU. Dallas is home, with a husband who keeps her laughing, and two very amusing rescue mutts. At the center of life are regular visits from the children and their little ones, and while she is always writing or reading, she will jet away on adventure at the drop of a hat.

To learn more please visit www.adriennelacava.com.

Contact: Adrienne LaCava / 972-816-4933 / Adrienne.lacava@prodigy.net

Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04384941152316891478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835137816092929745.post-88361052378493261722014-02-15T14:45:00.001-08:002014-02-15T14:45:56.963-08:00Blood of a Werewolf: Love & Horror Fuse in Genre-Defying Series by T. Meet Crystal Blue. Child of the Stars. Born to Illuminate Humanity.

What if you suddenly learned from a green-eyed stranger that you're an Avatar, someone gifted with the ability to walk between worlds? And what if you learned that you were the only person on earth capable of re-wiring humanity by traveling the world over in one year's time, unveiling and sharing the secrets of the ancients'? What's worse? What if you had no choice? If you do not accept your mission—the mission you were born to fulfill—a large portion of Mankind may cease to exist!

Well, this is Crystal Blue's problem…she doesn't want the job.

But, because the green-eyed man—the man she's never met but has dreamt of her whole life—has just saved her from bleeding to death in a 7-11 where she's left after a botched kidnapping, Crystal feels a certain obligation to at least listen to him.

His name is Dr. David Lange, a physics professor now decoding the ancient manuscript which tells him of Crystal's mission. Only days before, Crystal found the large red, leather-bound book with the gold snakes on its cover in the basement of a bookstore. The discovery should have been a clue that her life was about to change since the book did try taking a bite out of her, then transports her to a place where a mysterious energy painfully activates the eleventh layer of her DNA, and she meets a blue-scaled dragon that sounds like her Irish grandmother, awakening to discover streaks of blue threaded through her long, dark dreadlocks…but it didn't. Not until she's attacked by an over-sized serpent in David's home while playing the piano and left with a strange tattoo around her neck does Crystal finally accept that she isn't your ordinary teenager and maybe she is a bit…special.

Yet again, this is a problem: she doesn't want to be special or go anywhere. After being fairly miserable for most of her eighteen years, she's finally found a bit of happiness. She's just moved in with her estranged, older sister, Claire, and landed her dream job at The Blue Crystal Bookstore in Minneapolis, owned by the elderly Cosmo Attis; her newest friend. But most importantly, she just wants to be with Adam, the handsome, mysterious young man who notices her special blue aura when he first sees her. Unfortunately, the manuscript warns David of ill-fated consequences if Crystal and Adam come together. Crystal must leave and she must leave those she loves behind.

Fortunately for Crystal, she won't have to travel the world alone. David, the book's chosen scribe, will join her along with The Guardians, a select group of soldiers and a huge dog named Wyndon. They will offer their protection when trouble draws near. And trouble, in the form of the serpent, an angry energy guarding the ancient secrets, will follow Crystal, trying to stop her from illuminating humanity.

=======
EXCERPT
=======

BOOK ONE

THE BLUE CRYSTAL

Crystals hold the highest vibration in the mineral kingdom. The blue crystal, a powerful and rare specimen discovered in remote areas of the world—which only a half dozen cases of discovery have been reported—holds the highest.

Three of these specimens' whereabouts are known: NASA keeps one, the Vatican another and one particularly large specimen sits in a remote museum; the rest are as yet unaccounted for.

There is another one, however, that will never be found. Scientists speculate that the inner core of the earth is a primarily solid sphere—they are wrong. A giant blue crystal, smaller than the moon but more beautiful than the sun, makes up earth's inner core: The spirits of the ancients dwells there and they wait for the blue serpent, the one who has the power to release them.

PROLOGUE

A WALK IN THE STARS

The sky was full of stars. Their bright light illuminated the path that the beautiful woman walked on. The colorful light emanating from her was even brighter than the stars as she glided effortlessly through the mist, and her soft-white gossamer gown billowed around her slender, regal form. A large blue serpent with iridescent scales wove its way alongside her, every so often disappearing into the mist. Over her head flew a great white bird, its wings stirred the air softly and gently brushed her face in its passing. She looked up and smiled fondly. And then, with a mighty downward thrust of its great wings, the white bird soared high up into the night sky and disappeared.

Six women and one man waited for the woman to arrive to complete their gathering. He stood with the sisters in a circle and watched the seventh sister, Akasha, appear out of the milky white mist; he thought she was the brightest and the loveliest of them all. Even though he'd known her for many, many years, the sight of her still took his breath away. She was an angel of the highest order.

Her smile lit up her lovely face as she greeted them one by one. She took her place at his side—he sat first and the sisters followed.

They all shared their thoughts. Speaking was not necessary for them.

He heard her lovely voice in his head. "Adamas," Akasha's eyes sparkled and her lips lifted in a smile, "my sisters and I have decided that it is I who will be leaving."

Adamas hung his head; he did not want the sisters to witness his grief. He knew her departure was imminent, necessary and expected.

"The call has gone out," she cast her eyes upon all of her sisters, "and we have answered."

"Must you really go?" He wished it was not her that would leave, but another sister.

"It was my name that was called," she said softly.

"Do not forget that my name was also called," Adamas said.

She smiled and nodded her head. "We knew this time would come."

"But I did not know it would be you." He hung his head once more. He no longer wished to look upon her face.

"You will forget your name upon your arrival, and you will not remember who you are. The energies are heavier than they once were – the veil is heavy and thick. Your light will diminish."

"Yes," she smiled, "I know. It seems like only yesterday that I visited the blue planet. They called for us then, we answered the call, and then we returned home. This time it will be different. This time I travel alone and I may not return."

He knew this—they all did—it was expected of one of the sisters, and it would be her.

"The ancients will soon be leaving the blue planet and the care of earth will now be up to the humans," Akasha said. "I do not travel to teach or to lead. This time I travel to witness something never seen in the history of the humans and to help anchor in the new energy they will most certainly need. The humans have passed the test and they are ready."

She looked at each of her sisters. Their beautiful colors streamed off them, casting rainbows in the air. She looked at her beloved Adamas, the one her heart loved the most. "You cannot help me, Adamas," her voice was but a whisper. She knew what he was thinking.

"I do what I please," he responded.

Her twinkly laugh rang through the still air and the stars danced. "You may not find me, I am quite cunning. Besides, you will only be a distraction."

She walked towards him and took both his hands. He gripped her hands tightly. "I will do what I must – I will not distract you," he said.

"I made a promise long ago and now it is time to make good on that promise. And, Adamas, I am of the sky and you are of the sun." Her blue eyes sparkled. "Together our energies will be too great for the planet to bear."

"I will give up my greatness. It is what I wish."

The sister, Alectra, interrupted their silent conversation. "You cannot govern what Adamas does, Akasha. He was a priest of Telos, do not forget that. The blue planet will remember him – he may return at any time. It is because of you that he has stayed with us so long."

He looked at her and nodded his head. It was time he returned. Besides, he had his own promise to keep.

Alectra said, "Akasha must travel alone, Adamas."

"That is why I must go." He set his chin stubbornly. "I will protect her."

"No!" Akasha's blue eyes flashed. "I do not need your protection. I am one of the seven sisters," her gaze softened, "I only need his love," she whispered, smiling softly at the man whom she adored and had loved since the beginning of time.

"Know this," said Athena. "There is a time for the reacquainting of love. Now is not that time. Now is the time for Akasha to visit the blue planet. She will forget who she is and will have to remember her greatness – just like the others – that is why she has been called. It is a time of great awakening for the humans. They will need her light."

The sister Anastasia stood and smoothed the folds of her long, green dress. "The energies of the blue planet are very strong, Adamas. Akasha's spirit is not of the earth, and neither is yours. But your spirit is tied to many lifetimes on earth; Akasha's spirit was only on earth for a short time. If you go, you must not let your emotions misguide her. If you do, she may turn away from her purpose. You must not let that happen."

Aurora joined in. "Find those that you love the most and keep them close, Akasha—the serpents will find you and so will he. The ancients must leave so they may set their energy in one of the new earths. They cannot give you the aid that they once did. Look to the heavens, Akasha, for it will be there you may seek counsel."

The wind picked up and the colors emanating from the seven sisters began swirling together. The man watched his beloved Akasha close her eyes and raise her arms high over her head. Her bright light leapt out of the array of colors and soared upward and in a blink she followed and then she was gone.

"Remember," Astra said to the man who looked to the sky, "our sister is strong, but her love for you is stronger. Do not interfere with her task as you fulfill your own journey's agenda. Remember what Akasha said, you are of the sun, she is of the sky. If your energies become reconnected, it could prove to be dangerous to those who live upon the blue planet."

He thrust his chin. "I said I would give up my greatness so that I could be close to her. I will do what I must."

The sisters nodded their heads; they knew what he spoke of.

"Once you have made your choice you cannot change it, Adamas," Alcoyne said. "Are you sure this is what you want?"

He nodded his head.

"You will have less than half your strength," Aurora said gently. "You will not be allowed to gain it back until your mission is done. And she may be gone by then."

"If I can be near her, then I choose this. I have made up my mind."

Once again the sisters nodded their heads. And slowly out of the white mist the blue serpent slithered slowly forward. Adamas smiled at his friend whom he knew would follow. After all, it was time for her to travel to the blue planet as well.

"We will be watching you, Adamas," Alectra said. "We will be watching you both."

He watched as all the sisters exploded into six colorful beams of light and danced into the night sky.

And then, for the first time in hundreds of years, the man sought out the energies of earth. He immediately felt the tug of her seductive energies; he remembered the feeling quite well. He knew the life he must live; he had an agreement to keep. Out of love for his Akasha, he prepared to give his power to the sun and return to Tara, the beautiful blue planet.

The man looked down and saw the large blue serpent winding its way between his feet. He smiled and nodded his head at the beautiful reptile whose multitude of blue-hued scales shimmered magnificently. Then he watched the serpent disappear into the mist; he knew he would see her again.

With arms upraised and eyes to the sky he called out the name of his ancestors. To them he gave his greatness – he knew that he, like her, would have to forget who he was so that he could experience the remembering. After all, it is what humans have to do in order to evolve.

And then he felt himself begin to tear apart, and in one last fiery display, he threw the sun's power out of his hands and gave himself up to the energies of Gaia.

In a shower of sparks the man transformed into two beams of blue light and disappeared into the night sky.

---

Are you ready for your next journey?
Yes.
This is the one we have been waiting for.
Yes.
Remember

=======

Illuminating Crystal - Book One in the White Bird Series
By PB Morlen

Kindle users get it FREE from 12/10 to 12/14, then afterwards just 99 cents!
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0068R63KU/Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04384941152316891478noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3835137816092929745.post-73562997511901971802013-11-23T03:57:00.000-08:002014-10-05T20:56:05.511-07:00Severed Ties

Severed Ties by Angie Skelhorn
eBook ISBN: 9781615728206
Print ISBN: 9781615728213

eBook Price: $ 4.50
Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal
Novella of 28819 words
Sex rating: 3
Violence rating: 3

Edited by Barbara Legge
Cover Artwork by Dawné Dominique

About the book:
By the use of divination and magic, some ties can never be severed.

In the beginning, by the light of the Full Moon, Frankie connects with Candice's energy through dream time and witnesses her involvement in a terrifying act of violence.
